The Unalome Method

"The title of this series “The Unalome Method” comes from an observation a friend made as he watched me create one of my latest paintings. The curvy method I use mixing the paints directly on the canvas reminded him of the Unalome, which is a symbol that represents the path to enlightenment in the Buddhist Tradition. The spirals in the image represent the twists and turns one experiences throughout life before finding peace and enlightenment. I found this a good metaphor for my own life and the different turns my artwork has taken over the years." -Andrea Castanette
