Andrea Castanette Fine Artist

Art runs in Andrea's family on both her mother and father's side. She was encouraged to nurture her natural artistic talent as a child and grew up drawing and painting. In high school she had an excellent art teacher, Judy Vogland Dayton, who traveled the Northwest with her students providing them ample opportunities to expand their knowledge of the art world and hands on experience with various media.  Andrea continued to study Fine Art at Portland State University during her undergraduate studies and has worked as an artist in Portland, Oregon since 2000, drawing portraits and painting murals in private homes.

Andrea's travels have influenced her artwork throughout her life as well.  She began traveling internationally as a youth and has spent a significant amount of time observing art in Europe and Latin America.  Artists that have influenced her work include Rodin, Picasso, Goya, and the Mexican Muralists.  Most recently, travels to the US-Mexico border and artist works related to immigration have been influential to her work.
